Emily was born and raised in the DC area and played soccer since she was 3 years old. She was a multi-sport athlete in high school and played soccer through college on the SLU women's club team where she captained for 3 years. Emily completed both her undergrad and grad school work at SLU, receiving her bachelor’s degree in exercise
science and her master’s degree in athletic training.
At SLSG, Emily performs injury screening, management, and rehabilitation. She also conducts initial assessments of injuries that occur during practices or competitions for any SLSG athlete. From those initial assessments, she will determine whether or not the injury warrants a referral to a physician or if it is something that can be rehabilitated on-site. Emily will develop individualized rehab programs for athletes and gradually progress them until they are ready for a full return to play. If it’s something that warrants a physician referral, she will connect the athlete (and their parents) with the appropriate medical professional and assist them through the process, all the way through the athlete's return to play.
Emily's approach of being proactive is crucial in obtaining optimal results. She looks to address the underlying causes of injuries, and not just what is presenting on the surface. Taking the time to address the underlying causes ensures a more successful outcome for the athlete, allowing them to compete at their highest level.
Emily is a huge Redskins and Capitals fan. When she's not at work, she enjoys running, cooking, exploring different parts of St. Louis and supporting the local sports organizations (Blues, Saint Louis FC, etc.).
