Laura Heffington - ECNL Director/2002-2003, 2004, & 2005 ECNL Head Coach



Laura joined St. Louis Scott Gallagher Illinois in 2011. She has coached and assisted in the Girls Elite Program since she started coaching with the club. She has also acted as a Girls Assistant Coach for Alton Marquette Catholic High School, as well as the Girls Varsity Head Coach at Alton High School. Laura currently serves as the SLSG Illinois Zone 2 Girls Director and continues to coach in the Elite Girls program. She is also an alumna of the SLSG Illinois (formerly Metro United). Laura attended and graduated from Eastern Illinois University. She currently resides in East Alton, IL with her husband.

  Shawn Hewitt - SLSG Illinois Director/2006, 2007, 2008 ECNL Head Coach



Shawn joined St. Louis Scott Gallagher Illinois in 2007. He has over 20 years of coaching experince at both the club and high school levels. At SLSG, Shawn has coached in the Boys US Development Academy Program, Boys Elite Program, and Girls Elite Program. He has also served as the High School Boys Elite Director, Girls ECNL Director, and Girls Program Director. He is currently the SLSG Illinois Program Director and he coaches in the Girls Elite Program. He attended Truman State University and graduated from the University of Missouri - St. Louis. Shawn currently resides in Waterloo, IL with his wife and two daughters.


License Level:  USSF National A License, USSF National Youth License

  Terry Dutko - Girls Director of Goalkeeping


Terry joined St. Louis Scott Gallagher in 2013. He has been an assistant coach, but has primarily worked with our female goalkeeper pool since joining the club. Dutko previously coached at local clubs for high school aged boys, and girls teams in additon to goalkeeper training. He played soccer at Granite City High School, and in college for North Texas State University, and Saint Louis University. Terry lives in Granite City, Illinois, with his wife Jennifer, and three children, Emma, Sophie, and Jack.

  Kelsey Dinges - ECNL Assistant Coach- 2002/2003, 2005


Dinges joined St. Louis Scott Gallagher Illinois in 2017 and has spent the last 2 years coaching and assisting in the Girls ECNL Program. A current 3rd grade school teacher at Mascoutah Elementary School, Dinges started her career in education in 2016. Dinges has also acted as an assistant coach for the Girls Program at Althoff Catholic High School from 2016-2018. Dinges is an alumni of the club, and spent her collegiate playing days at the University of Miami- Ohio. During her collegiate summers, and following the end of her collegiate career, Dinges captained the Fire and Ice Soccer semi-professional team, which particpates in the WPSL, and was a part of the 2017 WPSL National Championship team. Dinges currently resides in Smithon, Illinois.

  Nick Walker - ECNL Assistant Coach- 2004


Walker joined St. Louis Scott Gallagher Illinois in 2017 where he has spent the last 2 years assisting in the ECNL Program at the High School Ages. He is currenrly an assistant for our U15, and U17 teams.  Walker played collegiately at the University of Indianapolis, and also played with the St. Louis Steamers for a season in 2006. From 2001- 2006 Walker was the Director of Coaching for Belleville Futbol Club (BFC), and was the head coach of the U18 girls team. He has acted as an assistant boys coach at the High School level for O'Fallon High School, and Althoff Catholic High School, as well as an assistant for Althoff Catholic High School girls program. This year, Walker also began working with college aged players as an assistant at both Lindenwood Univeristy- Belleville, and Southwestern Illinos College. Walker currently resides in O'Fallon Illinois with his wife and two daughters.

  Morgan Betscher - ECNL Assistant Coach- 2007


Betscher joined St. Louis Scott Gallagher Illinois in 2017 where she spent the last 2 years coaching and assisting in the Girls ECNL Program specifally with our current U13 team. Betscher also currently acts as the Assistant Coach of the Women's Soccer Program at Southern Illinois University- Edwardsville where she has been since 2015. Prior to her current coaching position at SIUE, Betscher acted as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at Indiana University. Prior to beginning her collegiate coaching career, Betscher spent 5 years in Phoenix, AZ as the Assistant Coach for the USYSA Region II Olympic Development Program. Betscher spent her youth days playing for SLSG, and played collegiately at the University of West Virginia where she played in the NCAA Tournement all 4 years she was there, and was a 2 time Big East Conference Champion. Betscher currently resides in Maryville, Illinois.

  Nathan Steinmetz - SLSG Illinois Director of High Performance

Nathan joined the club in 2016 after spending 17 years coaching on the field at various levels including USYS National League and Midwest Regional League. During that time, Nathan also worked with various sports organizations as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Most notably, Steinmetz spent five years at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville working with multiple teams in the NCAA Division I Athletics program. While there, he completed his Master’s Degree in Sports Psychology, which gave him a very comprehensive view of performance and allows him to assist and improve players in both the physical and psychological factors associated with high-performance.
