ST. LOUIS – More than 400 St. Louis Scott Gallagher players between the ages of 6-12 participated in the SLSG Busch Stadium Free Play event on Saturday, November 14.
Through this event, SLSG boys’ and girls’ players were able to play soccer on the same field that the U.S. Men’s National Team used in its 6-1 World Cup Qualifying victory over St. Vincent & The Grenadines on November 13.
“We are pleased that so many SLSG members were able to take part in this unique event,” Executive Director Patrick Barry said. “To play soccer on the same field as the US Men’s National Team in the home of the St. Louis Cardinals; that is special.”
The Busch Stadium soccer field was divided up into several small-sided fields for the Free Play sessions. Players between the ages 6-9 enjoyed the field between 6:00-7:30 PM, before the 10-12 age group took the field from 7:30-9:00 PM.
Earlier in the day, the SLSG Missouri Academy teams played three games against Sockers FC at the U14, U16, and U18 age groups.
“We realize that being part of SLSG is about more than just soccer,” Barry added. “It is about creating experiences that become memories for a lifetime. To become the best club in the country means going the extra mile and hosting events such as this event.”
