St. Louis & Kansas City, MO - St. Louis Scott Gallagher Soccer Club (SLSG) & KC Select Soccer Club have entered into a strategic partnership including Kansas City Select announcing a name change. KC Select will now be known as Kansas City Scott Gallagher (KCSG). In addition to the name change, the two clubs will work together in several areas including technical collaboration, player development, administrative and club operations.
SLSG was formed in 2008 as a merger of the three top clubs in the St. Louis area. With roots dating back to the 1970’s, Scott Gallagher SC, Busch SC and Metro United had been serving the St. Louis area with great success for decades. Winning more than 26 national championships and developing more players for the US National Team than any other youth club, SLSG continues that tradition today by placing players in Major League Soccer (MLS), US National Team programs, National Womens Soccer League (NWSL) and iconic international soccer clubs.
KCSG was formed in 2005 to provide youth soccer opportunities for young athletes in Kansas City, MO and surrounding areas. Since its inception, KCSG has grown to over 1,000 players while developing boys and girls that have continued their careers at various US Soccer Development Academy programs, colleges and beyond. Recently, KCSG named US National Team player, MLS legend and St. Louis native Brad Davis as their Technical Director.
The innovative partnership takes an integrated and unique approach to youth club collaboration, development and growth. “In KCSG, we have found a club and leadership team that is closely aligned with what we are trying to accomplish and how we plan to do it. That alignment made it possible for us to approve the use of our name in another market,” said Patrick Barry, President. “KCSG has a strong history coupled with a tremendous opportunity for future success in providing opportunities for young soccer players. We look forward to working together to grow the game.”
Per Brad Davis, KCSG Technical Director, “We couldn't be happier to be partnering with SLSG, including their rich history and tradition. Their success speaks for itself as they continue to develop young talent into elite players and well-rounded people. This partnership allows both sides to continue to grow our common values and visions. We look forward to what the future holds bringing the two Clubs together in partnership."
